"Watan" depicts the whirlwind of violence that shook the Basque society in particular and the Spanish society in general after the death of President Franco in 1975 and continues beyond the final ceasefire announcement by the separatist organization ETA in October 2011, by tracing the fate of the relationship between two families: the Shato family and the Gouchian family. That period was accompanied by the emergence of a form of harsh repression, so that anyone daring to deviate from the organization's vision and method of achieving its goals would soon face all kinds of harassment and persecution, at least public defamation on walls, and at most assassination or bombing carried out by young people whose hearts have no mercy, as is the case with one of the family members, killing any person, whoever they are, regardless of their kindness and the friendly and loving relationship that connects them to the killer.
