The Little Literature and The Great Literature by Ibn al-Muqaffa' ... The Little Literature and The Great Literature by Abdullah ibn al-Muqaffa', introduction and commentary by Abdul Aziz Nabaoui, and reprinted by the Dar Al-Masriya Al-Lubnaniya. Ibn al-Muqaffa' in The Little Literature appears to be a transmitter or so it seems from his words: "I have placed in this book from the speech of preserved people words that help in building hearts, polishing them, clarifying sight, reviving thinking, establishing planning, and indicating virtues and noble morals." The book The Little Literature contains moral lessons that encourage knowledge, invite a person to refine himself, train him on good deeds, recommend friendship, and speak about the policies of kings. Among the ideas that Abdullah ibn al-Muqaffa' discussed in The Little Literature are: "Self-accountability, remembrance of death, counting faults, good traits, urging a person to teach himself before teaching others, wonder as a flaw of the mind, knowledge as an adornment for its owner, signs of a deceitful miser, types of men."
