Brief about the book: – What does it mean to philosophize from the spiritual position that concerns us? We have not understood this question until now except from the perspective of "heritage readings." And this restriction is unjustified except as an exaggeration. Our intention is to introduce the possibility of philosophizing that we possess, as an event that finds its meaning only in itself, within the problematic horizon drawn by contemporary philosophy, not as a "Western" philosophy (for that is a non-philosophical claim that does not withstand historical questioning), but as a tradition in philosophy that pushed metaphysical questions, which Al-Farabi and Ibn Rushd worked on, to their furthest extent. – How do we think about the historical decline of the Arabs today, not according to what they say about themselves, but in light of the fundamental problem of contemporary philosophy, as it finds its own horizon in the question of "the end of metaphysics"? – The philosopher, in the history of truth on which our culture was founded, has always been an "emergent" philosopher, a being who did not find a stable place for himself, so he is compelled each time to invent a spiritual legislation that makes his existence possible. However, this "emergent" situation, according to our assumption, reflects the current situation of the contemporary philosopher in general—the philosopher who has found that he must philosophize in an era of "end of metaphysics," whether among Western or Arab "emergents." – Globalization is a difficult test for anyone thinking within a culture that has lost a large part of its confidence in an era and in itself at the same time. And nothing restores this kind of confidence like philosophical questioning. That is generally the purpose of this book.
