Author's name: Frederick Lenoir Publisher: Dar Al-Tanweer for Publishing and Distribution Year of publication: 2016 Literary classification: Philosophy and Thought Brief about the book: If we tend by nature or fate to be happy or unhappy, can contemplating happiness help us to be more happy? I personally believe so. Experience, confirmed by scientific research, shows that we bear some responsibility for being happy (or not). Thus, happiness slips away from us and depends on us at the same time. We therefore have the faculty to increase our ability to be happy by using our mind and will (without guaranteed success). Because they are obsessed with this conviction, philosophers have written books dedicated to what can lead us to a better life and the greatest possible happiness. But, isn’t happiness the main reason for the existence of philosophy, as Epicurus reminds us when he defined philosophy as "an activity that ensures us a happy life through debate and rational judgments"? The search for a "good" or "happy" life is what is called wisdom, and that is why the word "philosophy" etymologically means "love of wisdom." I would like to propose to the reader a philosophical journey that has no linear, sequential path, but rather a rich path supported as much as possible by questions and real-life examples, where the reader finds analysis from psychologists and the latest scientific contributions. Through questions, examples, life rules, or spiritual exercises, it will be a journey in which the reader walks alongside giants who contributed to this eternal question and to practicing a happy life. Frederick Lenoir French writer and philosopher born in Madagascar, famous for his writings on religion and spirituality, as well as for several well-known books in collaboration with other philosophers and writers.
