Book overview: The articles in this book do not originate from a central concern, preoccupied with retreating into oneself, closed off in a reassuring spatial sense, where centrality means the conviction of forming final ideas that are self-satisfied and confident in their position, without considering proposing alternative results or other possible possibilities. Because the closure of the human sciences on themselves is part of the remnants of old foundational thinking, which assigns each science its fixed and specific position and does not allow it to transcend it. In the conception of these articles, this understanding of the human sciences is a "closed" foundational understanding. The reality is that what is advocated is an open understanding, which does not see in the human sciences closed central areas on themselves, but treats them as open boundary areas, sharing borders with each other, and often overlapping in indicating the dimensions of their lands.
The other understanding of the meaning of "marginality" that these articles call for is the negation of the domineering face in centrality. Centrality often turns into an oppressive, dictatorial, and real and intellectual tyranny that does not allow other elements to contemplate or even stand beside it. Meanwhile, marginality cannot swell and adopt a domineering stance, as centrality does. Marginality necessarily is a modest, methodologically and ethically thoughtful mind that can reach what centrality cannot, proposing alternative worlds at the same time.
