Brief about the book: It narrates the story of three Palestinians from different generations, who meet around the necessity of finding an individual solution to the Palestinian living problem through fleeing to Kuwait, where oil and wealth are. Abu Qais. The old man who dreams of building a room somewhere outside the camp, Asaad: the young man who dreams of Kuwaiti dinars and a new life, and Marwan: the young boy who tries to overcome his living tragedy, as his brother in Kuwait left them without a provider because he married, and his father left his mother to marry a woman who owns a house on which he must support the family, so he decides to reach Kuwait. Ghassan Kanafani blames in his novel all the parties responsible for the Nakba of Palestine, the helpless leaders, the treacherous leaders, the submissive people, and those who abandoned the land to seek their own salvation.
"Men in the Sun" is the lost legitimate scream, it is the Palestinian voice that was long lost in the tents of homelessness, and which suffocates inside a vehicle driven by a eunuch who was defeated once and will lead everyone to death. It is, as a novel, not claiming to express the lived Palestinian reality in its intertwined relationships. It is a symbolic framework for multiple relationships centered around Palestinian death, and around the necessity of escaping from it towards discovering the historical act or searching for this act based on the fundamental question: "Why didn't they knock on the tank's walls."
