Light texture - Nadia Al-Najjar

I used to spend hours reading those books, touching the cells of the six dots arranged in two parallel and equal rows, walking over them with my index finger from left to right while I hold the line with my other index finger so I wouldn't lose my place. The name Sief consists of three cells, the first is the letter Sin which is made of three prominent dots: two dots on the left in the second and third rows, and one dot on the right in the first row. Then comes the letter Yaa which is made of two prominent dots: a prominent dot on the left in the second row, and a dot on the right in the first row. As for the letter Fa, it consists of three prominent dots: two on the left in the first and second rows, and one on the right in the first row. That may seem difficult for sighted people, but it was a door I peeked through into other lives; to imagine how the rabbit jumps, to touch the snowflakes on cold winter nights, to wipe a mother’s tear who lost a son in a war fabricated by humans, and to feel the fear of a refugee crossing by sea or land to another border, just as the audiobooks do for me now.
