Dimethicone (DMPS 350)

Dimethicone, also known as Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), or dimethyl polysiloxane, is a lightweight silicone oil derived from the purest forms of silica. Dimethicone (DM 350) comes in multiple viscosity grades, and this variant has a viscosity of 350 centistokes. It is a very common organic polymer based on silicon because of its natural versatility and its unlimited properties that can be used in the applications of many products. Silicone dimethicone is an organic silicon polymer compound that undergoes hydrolysis and multiple condensation of dichlorodimethylsilane and trichloromethylsilane. It has a flexible, non-reactive polymer base and is largely gas-permeable. Polydimethylsiloxane provides a protective, water-repellent layer to product formulations, improving spreadability and lubricity. The polymer compound has a light scent and a clear formula, which allows it to be incorporated into various products.
