Fragments of gold, messages and chapters for the memorizer, Imam al-Dhahabi A gentle collection that includes fragments of gold from Imam al-Dhahabi, the historian of Islam, the حافظ of the era, the knight of criticism, and the sheikh of fairness, and the rest of what he left from chapters and messages from his scholarly heritage, written with precision. As evidence of his reading of a group of the scholars of his time regarding hadith and related matters, and an explanation of their ranks in terms of eloquence, mistakes, patience, and speed. And his message in which he named the heads of this nation and its eminent figures, arranged by centuries, mentioning in each century who was the caliph, then who was the head of scholars, hadith scholars, reciters, and ascetics, according to his utmost effort. A section on those who were unique in their time, mentioning those who excelled in a particular art, craft, or character that no one else matched, whether good or otherwise, and they are the ones whom examples are set for in those arts, crafts, and morals. A section on the ruling on singing, which al-Dhahabi made the conclusion of his part called "The Permissibility of Singing and Music with Its Conditions," which he summarized from the book "Pleasure in the Rules of Listening" by al-Adfawi. And another separate, detailed issue concerning the topic of singing and listening. And the concluding necklace, a comprehensive will of al-Dhahabi, covering what a person should be like in knowledge, action, and self-purification. These fragments were arranged in this necklace, and it is beautiful. I cared for them as much as I could, though it is little, and I strived to verify them according to my knowledge, which is also little. I attached appendices in the hope that they will be beneficial, and I spent many years in their preparation, may Allah make it a good effort and righteous work.
