I Love Reading Series (Fluency Level)

Author: Dr. Latifa Al-Najjar Age: 4 years and above Overview of the book: This book is part of a series titled I Love Reading, and it represents the second level of basic reading levels: the fluency level, which aims to enable the child to read at an appropriate speed and trains them to avoid stopping and slow reading that may hinder their understanding later of the texts they read. This book contains 50 short texts, each text not exceeding one or two sentences. The sentences in the book are presented in a vertical sequential manner, so the child reads the first word in the first line, then the first and second words in the second line, then the first, second, and third words in the third line, and so on, until reaching the last line where the sentence is completed. This method of presenting the words in order ensures that the child repeats reading most words two or more times, which helps them master reading and increases their fluency. In this part, we employed writing for the basic and visual words, as writing plays a significant role in reinforcing the image of the words in the child's mind, without overwhelming them with too many words. At the end of the book, I included a suggested table for distributing the words over the days, which a parent or teacher can follow if they wish. To encourage and motivate, we placed small stickers that the child can stick under each word after reading it, so they continue reading words and finish the book. This book is designed to boost the child's confidence and make reading enjoyable, without burdening them with many demands or long time. Continuity and consistency are the most important factors for the success of this series. If the child adheres to the suggested schedule, they will see noticeable progress in reading, develop discipline and commitment, and feel joy in achievement. Number of pages: 62
