Symptoms of brake master cylinder damage: Pedal drop: when continuously pressing the brake while stopped, you notice that the pedal "sinks" slowly toward the ground (this indicates internal leakage of the seals). Sponge-like brakes: you feel that the brakes are very soft and the car only stops at the end of the stroke. Oil leakage: presence of wet brake oil traces between the cylinder and the backplate (this quickly destroys the backplate if not addressed). Brake warning light: continuous decrease in oil level in the reservoir due to external leakage from behind the cylinder.
