Mechanism of action of bisoprolol

Inhibits beta-adrenergic stimulation; cardioselective for beta-1 receptors at low doses with little or no effect on beta-2 receptors at doses ≤ 20 mg.

Beta blockers protect the heart from overactivity. This medicine works by affecting the body's response to certain nerve impulses, especially in the heart.

As a result, bisoprolol fumarate slows the heart rate and makes the heart more efficient at pumping blood throughout the body.

Heart failure occurs when the heart muscle is weak and unable to pump enough blood to meet the body's needs.

Therapeutic indications for Selecta 5 mg tablets

High blood pressure: High blood pressure is a common condition in which the long-term force of blood against the walls of the arteries is high enough that it may eventually cause health problems, such as heart disease.

Heart failure: This occurs when the heart muscle is weak and unable to pump enough blood to meet the body's needs.

How to take Selecta 5 mg tablets

Treatment with bisoprolol fumarate tablets should be started at a low dose and increased gradually.

Your doctor will decide how to increase the dose, usually in the following way:

1.25 mg bisoprolol fumarate once daily for 1 week

2.5 mg bisoprolol fumarate once daily for 1 week

3.75 mg bisoprolol fumarate once daily for 1 week

5 mg bisoprolol fumarate once daily for four weeks

7.5 mg bisoprolol fumarate once daily for four weeks

10 mg bisoprolol fumarate once daily for maintenance therapy

Doses may change under special circumstances, so always follow your doctor or pharmacist's instructions.

If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital immediately.

If you miss a dose, take the next dose as usual.

Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for a missed dose.
