Mechanism of action of fluoxetine

Fluoxetine belongs to a class of antidepressants called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs).

It works by increasing the amount of serotonin, a natural substance in the brain that helps maintain mental balance.

Therapeutic indications for Salepak 20 mg capsules

Fluoxetine is an antidepressant medication used to treat:

Depression

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

Bulimia nervosa (eating disorder)

How to take Salipak 20 mg capsules

Take this medicine by mouth.

Swallow the medicine whole with a sip of water. Do not chew.

Take it before or with a meal.

If you feel that the effect of your medicine is too weak or too strong, do not change the dose yourself, but ask your doctor.

It may take up to two weeks for results to appear.

The amount of medicine you take depends on your condition. Follow your doctor's instructions carefully.

This medicine is intended for adults over 18 years of age.

Your doctor may prescribe it for children 8 years of age and older if needed for depression.

For depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder, the usual starting dose is 20 mg once daily.

Your doctor may gradually increase your dose up to 60 mg daily.

For bulimia nervosa, the recommended dose is 60 mg once daily.

For children 8 years of age and older, the starting dose is 10 mg once daily. Your doctor may gradually increase the dose to 20 mg daily.

Doses may change under special circumstances, so always follow your doctor or pharmacist's instructions.

If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital immediately.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for your next dose.

Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for a missed dose.
