Product description
The face: Al-Rifa'i Mosque next to Cairo Citadel. Now, it is also the royal mausoleum of the Muhammad Ali family. The back: this statue, often referred to as "Khafre the Builder," is one of the most important remaining iconic sculptures from ancient Egypt. It depicts the Fourth Dynasty (ca. 2500 BC) Pharaoh Khafre slightly larger than life and sitting on a throne torn by a lion. The sides of the throne are decorated with the Tawy hieroglyphic symbols, which aim to represent the king's duty to "connect" the components of Egypt together under one authority.
