Why use Dextrose and Sodium Chloride injections: Dextrose and Sodium Chloride injections are used as a source of water, electrolytes, and calories. Do not use Dextrose and Sodium Chloride injections: Do not use solutions containing grape sugar in patients with known allergy to corn or corn products. Warnings and precautions: Dextrose and Sodium Chloride injections should be used with extreme caution, in any case, in patients with congestive heart failure, acute renal failure, and in clinical cases where edema with sodium retention is present. Dextrose injections with low electrolyte concentrations should not be administered simultaneously with blood through the same infusion set due to the possibility of pseudo-thrombocytopenia or hemolysis. Administering Dextrose and Sodium Chloride injections intravenously can increase fluids and/or solutes, leading to dilution of serum electrolyte concentrations, fluid overload, congestion, or pulmonary edema. Excessive intake of Dextrose and Sodium Chloride injections can lead to significant hypokalemia. In patients with impaired kidney function, administering Dextrose and Sodium Chloride injections may cause sodium retention. Clinical assessment and periodic laboratory decisions are necessary to monitor changes in fluid balance, electrolyte concentrations, and acid-base balance during long-term infusion therapy or when the patient's condition requires such evaluation. Caution should be exercised when administering Dextrose and Sodium Chloride injections to patients receiving corticosteroids or corticotropin. Dextrose and Sodium Chloride injections should be used cautiously in patients with overt or subclinical diabetes. Possible side effects: Stop using the product and seek immediate medical care if you experience throat tightness or swelling of the eyes, face, lips, or tongue, or if you feel faint or have difficulty breathing. Stop using the product if you experience hives or itching in the face or body. Other medications and Dextrose and Sodium Chloride injections: Additives may be incompatible. Consult the pharmacist if available. When adding additives, use sterile technique, mix well, and do not store. How to use Dextrose and Sodium Chloride injections: As directed by the doctor. The dose depends on the patient's age, weight, clinical condition, and laboratory findings. Inspect injectable products visually for particles and discoloration before administration whenever the solution and container permit. As reported in the literature, the dose and infusion rate of grape sugar intravenously should be carefully selected in pediatric patients, especially neonates and low-weight infants, due to increased risk of hyperglycemia/hypoglycemia. Storage of Dextrose and Sodium Chloride injections: Minimize exposure of pharmaceutical products to heat. Avoid excessive heat. Keep from freezing. Store at 20-25°C.
