Product description: Terbinafine is an allylamine belonging to the group of antifungal agents. An antifungal agent against dermatophytes, mold, and some dimorphic fungi. Terbinafine is either an antifungal or an antifungal against yeasts, depending on the type. Terbinafine interferes with fungal ergosterol synthesis by inhibiting squalene epoxidase in the fungal cell membrane at an early stage. This leads to a deficiency in ergosterol and the accumulation of squalene inside the cells, causing fungal cell death. Terbinafine is highly effective in fungal infections of the skin, hair, and nails caused by Trichophyton spp., Microsporum spp., and dermatophyte skin infections. It is also effective against dermatophyte yeast infections, especially those caused by the genus Candida. Topical terbinafine appears to be effective in pityriasis versicolor caused by Pityrosporum ovale. Usage instructions: Terbinafine tablets are essential for hair or nail infections: Usual oral dose: Terbinafine 250 mg daily for 2 to 12 weeks depending on the infection. Fungal nail infection: Terbinafine 250 mg once daily for 6 weeks. Fungal nail infection: Terbinafine 250 mg once daily for 12 weeks. Warnings and precautions: Before taking terbinafine, inform your doctor or pharmacist if: You are allergic to it or if you have any other allergies. Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially: immune system problems, kidney diseases, liver diseases, lupus. This medication may make you more sensitive to sunlight. Reduce your time in the sun. Avoid tanning and sunlamps. Use sunscreen and wear protective clothing when outdoors. Inform your doctor immediately if you get sunburn or experience blisters/redness on the skin. During pregnancy, this medication should only be used if clearly needed. Treatment of fungal nail infections can usually wait until after your baby is born. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
