Ambroxol syrup Why is Ambroxol used: Ambroxol is an expectorant / mucolytic used in the treatment of acute and chronic respiratory disorders associated with abnormal mucus secretion and impaired mucus transport. Do not take Ambroxol if you are highly allergic to any of the ingredients. Possible side effects: Generally, Ambroxol is well tolerated. Mild side effects in the upper digestive system have been reported (mainly heartburn, indigestion, and sometimes nausea and vomiting). Allergic reactions, especially rash, have rarely been reported. Other medications and Ambroxol: Avoid concurrent use of Ambroxol with antibiotics. How to take Ambroxol: Concentrated syrup Adults and children over 12 years: 10 ml three times daily; it should be increased to 20 ml twice daily in severe cases and in initial treatment of chronic cases for up to 14 days. Ambroxol syrup should be taken with meal times.
