Zymaxid 0.5% eye drops Why is Gatifloxacin Zymaxid 0.5% used: Gatifloxacin is used to treat eye infections caused by bacteria sensitive to gatifloxacin. Do not take gatifloxacin if you are allergic to gatifloxacin, any quinolones, or any other ingredients of this medication. Warnings and precautions when using Zymaxid 0.5% eye drops: Tell your doctor about all your health conditions before using this medication. Do not use for longer than the recommended instructions. A second infection may occur. Avoid wearing contact lenses during treatment with this medication. Possible side effects when using Zymaxid 0.5% eye drops: Stop using this product and seek medical care immediately if you experience rash; itching; red, ulcerated, or peeling skin; chest or throat tightness; difficulty breathing, swallowing, or speaking; unusual hoarseness; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat. The frequency of these side effects is unknown. Common side effects when using Zymaxid 0.5% eye drops: Eye irritation Eye pain Change in taste ability Watery eyes Other medications and Gatifloxacin Zymaxid 0.5% eye drops: Tell your doctor about all the medications you are taking. How to take Gatifloxacin Zymaxid 0.5% eye drops: Not used in children under 1 year old. This medication is for the eyes only. Use this medication as directed by your doctor. Tilt your head back. Gently pull down your lower eyelid and look upward. Place one drop in the lower eyelid, then close your eyes and press on the inner corner of the eye for one minute. For gatifloxacin 0.5%, instill one drop every two hours (up to 8 times) on the first day. Then instill one drop four times daily from the second to the seventh day. For gatifloxacin 0.3%, instill one drop every two hours (up to 8 times) on the first and second days. Then instill one drop four times daily from the third to the seventh day. How to store Gatifloxacin Zymaxid 0.5% eye drops: Store at room temperature from 68 to 77 degrees Fahrenheit (20 to 25 degrees Celsius). Keep this medication out of reach of children. Do not use this medication after the expiration date printed on the package.
