What is tooth decay?
One of the widespread problems recently, where erosion and damage occur in the tooth structure.
This happens due to acid produced by natural bacteria in the mouth (this acid is naturally secreted to help digest food residues in the mouth), but this acid erodes the enamel layer (the outer layer that protects the tooth), leading to holes in the teeth, known as tooth decay.
Symptoms of tooth decay:
Intermittent or persistent pain in the teeth or gums.
Bad breath and a changed, unpleasant taste in the mouth.
Tooth sensitivity to hot or cold drinks.
Presence of a hole in the tooth or visible decay (black color).
Some causes of tooth decay:
Not regularly cleaning teeth with Blanx toothpaste.
Type of food or drink: sugars, starches, honey, cake.
Acidic and carbonated drinks, energy drinks.
Eating or drinking right before sleep without cleaning teeth, especially in children.
Not regularly monitoring oral and dental health with a specialist doctor.
Ways to protect and prevent tooth decay:
Eat healthy foods, preferably low in sugars.
Use toothpaste at least twice a day.
It is preferable to use toothpaste after every meal.
Use medical dental floss to help remove food residues between teeth and hard-to-reach areas.
Use mouthwash and oral rinses: they help clean and disinfect the mouth and eliminate harmful bacteria.
Use fluoride-containing toothpaste, which helps protect and strengthen teeth.
Regular follow-up with the dentist for protection, prevention, and necessary advice.
