A fragrant perennial plant from the Apiaceae family, with a hollow stem reaching up to one meter in height, shiny green leaves similar to dill but thinner, and small yellow flowers forming clusters with a diameter of up to 15 cm. Wild fennel is spread in the Levant and Mediterranean countries. People in Iraq also eat its roots after boiling or cooking them with rice and call it Al-Kalim. It has multiple medicinal uses.
