Red Indian Canna flowers:
They are red, with other varieties in yellow and orange. Their size ranges from 8 cm to 10 cm, and they bloom from April to November.
Red Indian Canna seeds:
They are medium-sized, round, black, and hard.
Propagation season:
Canna is planted in spring, but it can also be cultivated year-round in protected agricultural environments, indoor spaces, or plastic-covered areas where temperature can be controlled and sunlight or adequate lighting is available.
Suitable climate and soil for cultivating Red Indian Canna:
Canna prefers full sun but does not tolerate frost. Strong winds can tear its leaves. It needs well-drained sandy soil; turning the soil helps retain moisture. It should be watered regularly.
Method of planting Red Indian Canna:
Canna propagates through seeds, which need to be soaked in water for at least one or two days because they are hard seeds. It also propagates through dividing side shoots and replanting them. Care should be taken when propagating these shoots in soil, as it can turn into a gaseous plant. Therefore, it is best to grow them in plant containers to control their growth.
Uses and benefits:
Used for decoration in gardens and homes. Its tropical appearance makes it a favorite for planting in agricultural containers to beautify balconies, walkways, and windows.
Original habitat:
Its native habitat is Central and South America, from where it spread to many regions around the world. It is also cultivated in gardens in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
