The author was a Minister Plenipotentiary for his country (Iraq) in Jeddah for two years since 1954 AD, and these memoirs, like others, for us to benefit from and read carefully, must first introduce the author before reading. The author, like his country at a time when relations between his country and the host country were at their worst, is nationalist and coming for the purpose of achieving progress, especially since there is a challenge between him and some members of his government that he is not qualified for this mission. After all this, he felt at the beginning of his representation that he had accomplished and improved relations, then he was surprised that he had done nothing, and he poured his wrath on whom he believed to be the cause of this failure in the Saudi and Iraqi governments, and even the people of Mecca and Jeddah were not spared from him. However, it is not devoid of precise social observations as well as cultural notes. But it is directed and filled with emotions that, in my opinion, spoiled the benefit of the book. It contains a lot of gossip and rumors that circulated among the diplomatic corps in Jeddah at that time due to their lack of mixing with others and their social seclusion in one circle.
