I have not ceased - may God honor you - to inform those who have conversed with me about the language of this time, and the distance of its people from eloquence, and I claim, as I claim, that the classical Arabic they write with is closer to European languages than to the language of the Quran. So, no one who hears my speech from them will look at me with disdain or turn away his head as if I have insulted him. Some deny that there is a foreign influence in Arabic of this time and consider it to be the same as the language of the ancestors. Others see the foreign influence in it as slight and insignificant, and they push me to exaggeration and embellishment. So, when I faced what I faced, I kept urging myself tirelessly to write something about this matter and to clarify this affliction with a sufficient explanation. Nothing prevents me from doing so except the many preoccupations, and what I know about myself is the dominance of ignorance, the abundance of mistakes, and the weakness of argument. However, I have named myself someone who struggles with the process of addressing this issue and has fought my preoccupations, as I did not find a sufficient treatise to refer to or be satisfied with in response.
