Now... Here
Pages outlining its events from death and wanting it to be an honest and neutral testimony as much as possible, and to make the reader grow stronger and more eager to plan repression and demolish prisons, and to contribute to creating a human situation in which people can live without killing each other, and without blood becoming the only language of dialogue. And so... between exposure and incitement, and between artistic embellishment and historical awareness, Abdul Rahman Munif built "Now... Here." It is a novel, but it was like a testimony... announcing the scandal... tearing apart the silence... these homelands... prisons... scandal... and these citizen-prisoners are a scandal... and this Middle Eastern history is a prison drowning in scandal... And although the novel represents a vision with its regional diversities and multiple levels, it deliberately remains an incomplete statement, only complete if the reader adds a stance or an action... perhaps words can leave a significant impact... to be the foundation of every change.
Publisher's note:
A novel belonging to prison literature through which Abdul Rahman Munif expressed a tense political situation experienced by the peoples of the Arab world, and which the young people of the homeland, eager for freedom, fall victim to. It continues Munif’s journey in the prisons of the Arab world after the novel "East Mediterranean" which he published 15 years ago, as if he is saying that the passage of time in this part of the world has no effect on the relationship between authority and citizens. As in "East Mediterranean," the place and time are undefined, they are blurred, where Munif invents two states (Amooria and Moran), which are images of a reality experienced by the peoples of the Arab homeland in general...
