And these diaries are the record of the diaries of Aref Al-Aref when he was the Secretary-General of the Government of East Jordan, borrowed from the British Mandate Government of Palestine during the period 1926-1929. The completion of these diaries was carried out by both historian Ali Muhafaza, a professor of history at the University of Jordan, and Muhanad Mubeideen, a professor of modern history at the University of Jordan and director-general of the Jordanian Royal Documentation Center. These diaries are considered among the earliest political diaries written about that period, in which Al-Aref describes the decision-making process under the British Mandate in East Jordan, and how the country was managed between Prince Abdullah I and the British officials. These diaries (276 pages in medium size, documented and indexed) are divided into four chapters; the first chapter covers the diaries of 1926, the second chapter covers 1927, the third chapter covers 1928, and the fourth chapter includes the diaries of 1929. The period of these diaries witnessed the emergence of the Jordanian national movement, the establishment of the first political parties, the signing of the Jordanian-British Treaty in February 1928, the first Jordanian National Conference, and the political and popular movement that followed.
