Melakin reduces melanin formation in the skin. Melanin is the skin pigment that gives it a brown color. Melokin topical (for the skin) is used to lighten dark areas of the skin such as freckles, age spots, chloasma (sun damage), or chloasma (dark skin caused by hormonal changes). Skin color change or pigmentation disorder caused by ultraviolet rays or skin color change caused by oral contraceptives or hormone replacement therapy or skin injuries or pregnancy. Hyperpigmentation of the skin, due to chloasma, freckles, malignant freckles, or other forms of melanin hyperpigmentation.
