Imagination of history

The imagination of history in the Arabic novel (2000-2019) why does the novelist go to history and say what was supposed to have been said and become considered finished?! Was the historical record incomplete in one of its aspects? And are there gaps that the novelist can create his fictional universe within? Or is what was written and narrated different from what actually happened? And it is possible for the novelist to insert his narrative claw into the body of history.
