Life is successive problems, and as much as the problem is deeply rooted and far-reaching, it contains meanings that add newness to life.
And Oscar Wilde's life was a unique problem of its kind. It is the problem of the sensitive soul driven upward by ambition, which perceives from the meanings of life what sharpens its wit and ignites its emotions.
If it achieves its goal in this, it stops hesitant at a dangerous point: it has fulfilled its share of emotional response and complete knowledge within the scope of the known and familiar, so does it stop at that limit?
Nature is a mixture of good and evil. It is embodied in human nature, which combines compatibilities and contradictions.
And human nature is represented in instinct, with all the feelings it pulsates with and the reactions it harbors.
Humans have managed to refine and polish this instinct within the framework of their concepts of life, and to the extent of their understanding of its meanings;
but they neglected a large side, which is the side that people have considered the degraded aspect, and they did not approach it out of modesty, nor did they try to know what lies beyond it;
thus, a part of the secrets of the soul remains shrouded in mystery and covered by a curtain of shame.
Socrates said: Know yourself, and you will know the universe!
So, is it enough to know oneself only through what is apparent, which people have searched for and turned over in every way?
Then what is new in that?
