This work is a personal testimony and critique. It is also a double panel of literary images held together within a tight framework. And the double panel heads towards the future; the frame is held in silence and hope.
In the prologue, I argue that literature has adopted a new stance towards itself, and that silence has borrowed it — and in the case of the death of the metaphor, silence will become the state towards which the entropy of language leans. The result is anti-literature. And the direction expressed by this literature judges ourselves in an age of violation and a vision of the end of the world.
Two exemplary persons are Henry Miller and Samuel Beckett, proposed as my masters of anti-literature. In the first section, I dedicate three chapters to discussing Henry Miller. I try to stay close to the surface of the man and his work, because Miller reveals himself better on the surface level. I repeated the same attempt in the three chapters about Samuel Beckett, which make up the second section, but Beckett is a being belonging to depths, and his constraints require us to narrow our eyes and limit our sight.
