Product description

Ulrika stands on her toes looking out from the windows of the summer house. Everything, even the smallest details, is still exactly as she remembers: the cozy living room with its striped sofas; the sailor's cabinet; the white rocking chair, and the shelves that surround all the walls, packed with parts and pieces... It was like staring directly into the past that had all come back to her at once: the neighbors' beds that were easy to fall in love with, and the daughter of the family who was her first true friend. The novelist Hermanson works on a blend of realism and fairy tale, responding to the renewed Northern literature's interest in realism in the late twentieth century. The author employs the stream of consciousness technique and alternates narrative voices to weave a dramatic plot that turns the novel into a mystery story. The story is told by two characters, alternating the narration in parallel, and their relationship is only revealed in the final part of the story with the unraveling of the plot.
