رادوبيس

The second novel in the Mahfouz Trilogy, and its events originate from the ancient Egyptian legend from which the Cinderella story was inspired. The young king "Mernerew II" falls in love with the beautiful courtesan "Radobes" after finding her shoe that was stolen by an eagle during her bath. He approaches her, and a romantic relationship develops between them. Radobes helps him confront the temple priests, as the king wants to seize the lands designated for religious temples, while the priests oppose these measures. The conflict intensifies, and a massive revolution led by the priests demands that "Nitetokertis," the king's wife, take over the rule of the country. Radobes remains loyal to the king until his fate is sealed.
