Product description
The GW4C20A engine is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline internal combustion engine developed and manufactured by Great Wall Motors (GWM) . This engine is an upgraded and modified (more powerful) version of the basic GW4C20 engine, specifically designed for SUVs and large vehicles such as the Haval H9/Hval H6 models .
1. Basic technical specifications:
- Engine type: Four-cylinder, 16-valve, double overhead camshaft (DOHC), with variable valve timing (VVT) and turbocharger.
- Volumetric capacity: 1,967 cc (2.0 liters).
- Fuel system: Direct fuel injection into cylinders (GDI - Gasoline Direct Injection).
- Horsepower (power): Approximately between 231 and 252 horsepower (depending on the year of production and the engine computer "ECU" settings) at approximately 5500 rpm.
- Torque: ranging from 350 to 360 Nm at low to medium RPMs (often starting from 2000 to 4000/4500 RPM), giving the car excellent responsiveness and high traction.
- Compression ratio: approximately 10:1 (or 9.6:1 for versions close to it).
- Emissions standard: Complies with Euro 5 standards.
- Engine weight: approximately 175 kg (including accessories).
2. Recommended fluids and oils and maintenance:
- Preferred fuel type: High octane gasoline (95 or equivalent as per manufacturer's instructions).
- Recommended engine oil: SAE 5W-40 viscosity grade (conforms to API standards such as SN Plus or SP).
- Oil pan capacity (with filter): approximately 5.5 to 6.0 liters.
- Spark plugs: High-performance custom types are used (such as Bosch or NGK compatible with direct injection and turbo systems).
3. Key features of the engine:
- Powerful performance and flexible torque: Thanks to the turbo and direct injection systems, it delivers high torque at low RPMs, ideal for heavy SUVs and challenging driving conditions or rough roads.
- Thermal management and compact design: It features an advanced structural design that reduces vibrations and improves cooling efficiency and fuel consumption compared to previous generations.
4. Key points and operational notes (most common maintenance flaws):
- Carbon deposits on valves: Due to its reliance on the Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) system, carbon deposits may occur over time on the intake valves, requiring periodic cleaning of the fuel and air circulation system.
- Timing chain: With aggressive driving or sudden and frequent acceleration, stretching of the engine chain may appear before reaching high distances (around 120,000 to 150,000 km), so it is advisable to check it periodically.
- Turbo and cooling system: It is necessary to adhere to the specified oil changes and specifications to protect the turbocharger from corrosion or overheating.
