"Fake stories," one of the most important storybooks by the Portuguese writer Goncalo Tavares, 1970 AD, author of other important books such as "Jerusalem" or "The Neighborhood" or "A Girl Lost in the Twentieth Century," and the stories are a revisiting of a narrative of fake stories or rather innovative in their truth but continue to exist despite history and time, following a tradition in which Borges considers his storyteller master and one of his clear references here or in other books. In this story collection, he reconstructs a cultural tradition supported by the elegance of imagination and the search for gaps in the human psyche within its space and time. Most of the fictional characters here are connected to great thinkers of humanity in forming a fictional narrative, such as Melitus, Thales, Oryus, Faustine, or Marcus Aurelius, and many others. Tavares has managed to convey to us some of the most famous instances of silence in our history, from Aporyas Zeno of Elia to Lao Tzu, without falling into the trap of favoring one side over another. Finally, these fake stories can be read as philosophical material narrated about the feelings surrounding some individual characters, and they are the series of episodes where the paradoxes of the mind meet everyday life, pulling us from the collar of our proliferating dreams toward the idea of pure contemplation of existence.
