Overview of the book
This novel's events take place in "The Hole," which is a neighborhood among the most disturbed neighborhoods of Istanbul. It was founded by Idris, the head of the Koçovalı family, who became a father to all the people of the neighborhood and not just his family. The general course of the novel is shaped through the character Yamatç, the youngest son of Idris, who decided to abandon his family and his home to start a new life away from gang life, but he finds himself forced to return to The Hole again, and to become involved in its events and accept the role assigned to him by the family and the neighborhood, becoming a savior for them from the dangers they face.
The most prominent feature of this work is that it addresses gang life in Turkey in a different way, and discusses issues of family ties and human relationships, even among the children of those gangs.
