Brief about the book:
The novel narrates an imagined history of a Palestinian family, belonging to the village of Tantoura, between the years 1947 and 2000, having been uprooted from their land after the Zionist gangs' invasion of the village, to live through the experiences of exile in Lebanon, the Emirates, and Egypt.
The novel revolves around a series of events and historical facts such as the Nakba, Palestinian exile, the Lebanese civil war, and the Israeli invasion of Lebanon.
The story is told in the voice of Ruqayya Al-Tantouriya, the main character, who writes her family’s story from her early childhood to old age, under the insistence of her son Hassan.
The language of the novel is rich with Palestinian colloquial terms and dialogues, and it includes a collection of documented testimonies, recorded in the names of their owners, about real historical events or institutions, such as the massacres committed during the Nakba or the Lebanese civil war, and the fate of Palestinian research center documents.
