Synopsis: The corner of contemplation is a reflective portrait of married life and a brave confession of secrets of intimacy, trust, faith, and knowledge, and an literary statement about the state of the sinking global ship that unites us all.
And as Don DeLillo and James Baldwin point out that "sentences are the keys to novels," it seems that Gini O'Felt benefited from that and from Flaubert's advice, so she wrote this novel benefiting from all of that in an attempt to search for the style of the next novel, the novel of the second millennium and the twenty-first century. She presented an adventurous, unconventional work far from the familiar narrative that features linear, continuous storytelling like the works of Victorian and Russian novelists, a nineteenth-century novel.
Here, Gini O'Felt offers a (tree-like) work in which the author jumps from branch to another, sometimes almost randomly. It involves conveying daily life experienced after recording her thoughts about it in a virtual environment.
In brief excerpts from life, as experienced by the wife-author, O'Felt constructs a beautiful collage of the narrator's being, publishing scientific facts, philosophical dilemmas, literary quotes, and avoiding superficial direct narration of the story. Instead, she presents abstract connections that better capture the mind and soul of the narrator.
"There are 60 seconds in a minute, 60 minutes in an hour, 24 hours in a day, 7 days in a week, 52 weeks in a year, and some years in a person's life. Find the value of S?"
