Overview:
Lichen Science This book presents basic principles in a branch of the broad field of microbiology, which is lichenology. I have been able, الحمد لله, to teach lichenology for many years in the Department of Botany and Microbiology at the College of Science, King Saud University. This practice has given me extensive experience and a wide exposure to research, articles, and studies published worldwide in specialized journals and books in this field. The aim of this book is to provide an introductory overview of lichenology, its structure, organization of the algal and fungal components, their reproduction, functions of organs, and factors affecting their growth, then the impact of pollutants on lichens. It also reviews their economic importance and uses, supported by examples and illustrative images as much as possible. The goal is to present the scientific material to students in an engaging and attractive way to help increase their academic achievement and improve their competence when studying this science.
