Summary: Allah, the Most High, has made disasters and their destructive effects a lesson and reminder for humans, as disasters have formed an important part of human history and the nature of their livelihood throughout ages. They have been a significant factor in shaping human societies around the world. However, the element of surprise and lack of resources were among the main causes of failure in dealing with them and reducing their devastating effects.
The history of disasters is as old as human existence, including those that occur repeatedly: such as earthquakes, volcanoes, and hurricanes, and those related to changes in the environment surrounding humans: such as diseases, desertification, and floods. The severity of disasters and their impact on humans vary depending on their intensity and the duration of their occurrence.
Earthquakes, volcanoes, and hurricanes are usually sharp and quick to pass, while diseases, desertification leading to famine, and armed conflicts tend to be slow to resolve and have a wide impact. To the extent that some societies have incorporated the names of certain disasters into their historical records, such as "the year of famine" or "the year of the plague." The same applies to wars.
Throughout the history of human civilization, humans have dealt with disasters according to their available capabilities and knowledge at the time to limit their effects and repercussions.
