Violence everywhere around us Author: John Sefton Translated into Arabic: Dawood Suleiman Al-Qarnah & Taysir Nazmi Binding: Paperback Cover of the parts: one Paper: Shamooh Size: 14 × 21 Summary: The idea of this book dates back in time and place to the last days of the Taliban in Afghanistan; specifically to the spring and summer of 2001, when I first began to think about the topics and issues of this book. I had traveled to Kosovo in 1999, and worked in other troubled places in the post-2001 decade such as Pakistan, India, Egypt, and southern Philippines, and mostly I worked with the Human Rights Watch organization. However, the facts in the reality of Afghanistan under Taliban rule were unique, and the experience, in a word, was provocative; and that provocation was the embryo from which this book was born. Most of what is in this book focuses on the events I witnessed myself in 2001, and what I learned from my role as one of the employees of Human Rights Watch in the long, terrible, and ongoing journey I took following the September 11 attacks.
