Islamic cushion by Raghad Alahmad

This cushion is not merely a decorative element, but a piece of art designed to add calmness to the place, and carry a feeling of lightness and reassurance. It is made with a filling of a mixture of cotton and polyester to balance carefully between softness and stability, comfortable to use, and visually present without exaggeration. All fabrics are carefully selected from local shops, and personally chosen by the artist to harmonize with the identity of the work and its background, and to integrate with the atmosphere of Saudi homes and traditional majlis spaces we grew up with, and we still choose today for gatherings and meetings. The artist chose the Islamic star with its eight points and four corners as a main visual element, as it is a shape connected to our visual and spiritual identity, and present in our collective memory. This symbol was integrated into familiar fabrics, which we always see in our homes, to make the piece an extension of what we know and feel, not an alien element in the place. With changing times and shifting styles and patterns, our view of the majlis has changed, sometimes seen as ordinary spaces. But over time, we accepted it… and were satisfied with it. Not because it is just a space, but because it is a space we fill with our identity. We fill it with coffee and tea cups, generosity and kindness, happiness, and the bonds of kinship. And here lies the essence of the work: contentment. Moving through life with a lighter heart, and trusting in God when the way is not clear. The reassurance that forms when we leave what exceeds our ability, and accept what is in our hands, and create meaning ourselves. Pre-order process: selecting and making this cushion requires deliberate time and effort. Every piece is locally crafted with care, from choosing the fabric to the final execution, carrying the trace of the hand, the intention, and the meaning. Size: 70 × 70 × 15 cm. Price: 600 SAR per piece. Price does not include shipping. Production time: one week. Shipping time: may take up to an additional week depending on the city. A collectible art piece to beautify the place… and to remind that reassurance begins from within.
