ESTRUMATE™ 250 µg/ml – 20 ml Description ESTRUMATE™ veterinary injection solution contains Cloprostenol sodium, an artificial analogue of the prostaglandin hormone used to control the estrous cycle and for therapeutic uses related to the corpus luteum in cattle and horses, within reproductive management programs, estrus synchronization, hormonal therapy. Composition (Each ml contains): Cloprostenol sodium: 263 µg (equivalent to 250 µg cloprostenol) Excipients: Benzyl Alcohol 20.0 mg Indications for Use In cattle: First – reproductive control (Estrus synchronization): Used in programmed insemination programs. Two injections spaced 11 days apart, with animals showing estrus before the second injection, or at fixed times. Can be combined with GnRH analogues within protocols: Ovsynch, Co-Synch Second – therapeutic uses: Treatment of undetected estrus associated with active or persistent corpus luteum. Treatment of chronic endometritis / Pyometra associated with active corpus luteum. Treatment of luteal ovarian cysts. Induction of parturition near the natural due date (with safety precautions). Termination of pregnancy within specific pregnancy periods under veterinary supervision. In horses: First – reproductive control: Synchronization of estrus in mares to improve breeding management and embryo transfer. Estrus usually begins 3–4 days after injection. Can be used: one dose or two doses spaced 14–18 days apart. Can be combined with progesterone / progestagen programs. Second – therapeutic uses: Induction of luteolysis in cases of prolonged estrus or false pregnancy. Assisting the return to normal estrus. Method and Dosage Method of administration: Intramuscular injection. Dosages: Cattle (dairy or beef): 2 ml per animal (equivalent to 500 µg cloprostenol). Foals and donkeys: 0.5 – 1 ml per animal. Heavy horses and stallions: 1 – 2 ml per animal. Withdrawal periods: Meat and offal: Zero days Milk: Zero days Warnings and Precautions Not to be used in pregnant animals unless the goal is to terminate pregnancy. Do not administer intravenously. Use with extreme caution in pregnant women or asthmatics. Avoid contact with skin or mucous membranes. Do not mix with other veterinary drugs. Storage Do not store above 25°C.
