It started with Royal Santal in 2014 and was followed by Eternel Ambre in 2016. Oud Essentiel perfume was created by Guerlain's perfumer Thierry Wasser, who was inspired by the rare and precious oud wood. The perfume is a majestic celebration of this ingredient, revealing its true strength and sensory impact. Thierry Wasser describes the perfume as luxurious, seductive, and charismatic, combining delicacy, joy, and intensity, as well as blending the East and West. Oud Essentiel perfume features the scent of leather, represented by saffron and leather notes, with roses, including Bulgarian rose and geranium, also called pink geranium, along with oud woods, cedar, and Giyak, plus the mysterious Eastern atmosphere of frankincense incense.
