Product description: Uses amoxicillin to treat a wide range of bacterial infections. This medicine is a penicillin-type antibiotic. It works by stopping bacterial growth. That is, it only treats diseases caused by bacteria. It will not work with viral infections (such as colds and influenza). Using any antibiotic when not needed can lead to ineffectiveness for future infections. Amoxicillin is also used with other medicines to treat stomach/intestinal ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori bacteria and to prevent ulcers from returning. Usage instructions: Mild to moderate infections: Less than 3 months: less than or equal to 30 mg / kg / day PO divided every 12 hours for 48-72 hours; for more than or equal to 10 days for Streptococcus infection More than 3 months and less than 40 kg: 25 mg / kg / day PO divided every 12 hours or 20 mg / kg / day PO divided every 8 hours More than 40 kg: 500 mg PO every 12 hours or 250 mg PO every 8 hours for 10-14 days Severe infections: Less than 3 months: less than or equal to 30 mg / kg / day PO divided every 12 hours for 48-72 hours; for more than or equal to 10 days for Streptococcus infection More than 3 months and less than 40 kg: 45 mg / kg / day PO divided every 12 hours or 40 mg / kg / day PO divided every 8 hours More than 40 kg: 875 mg PO every 12 hours or 500 mg PO every 8 hours for 10-14 days Acute otitis media: More than 3 months and less than 40 kg: 80 mg / kg / day PO divided into four doses every 8-12 hours. More than 40 kg: 500 mg PO every 12 hours or 250 mg PO every 8 hours for 10-14 days. Lower respiratory tract infections: Mild, moderate, or severe infections Less than 3 months: less than or equal to 30 mg / kg / day PO divided every 12 hours for 48-72 hours; for more than or equal to 10 days for Streptococcus infection More than 3 months and less than 40 kg: 45 mg / kg / day PO divided every 12 hours or 40 mg / kg / day PO divided every 8 hours More than 40 kg: 875 mg PO every 12 hours or 500 mg PO every 8 hours for 10-14 days Shake the bottle well before each dose. Measure the dose carefully using a special measuring device / spoon. Do not use a household spoon as you may not get the correct dose. Take this medicine orally with or without food as directed by your doctor, usually every 8 or 12 hours. The dose depends on your medical condition and response to treatment. You can add the measured dose to formula, milk, juice, water, or ginger beer immediately before use. Drink the entire mixture for the full dose. Do not prepare in advance for future use. Drink plenty of fluids while using this medicine unless your doctor tells you otherwise. For best results, take this antibiotic at evenly spaced intervals. Tell your doctor if the condition persists or worsens. Warnings and precautions: Before taking amoxicillin, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to amoxicillin, penicillin, cephalosporin antibiotics, or any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients that can cause allergies or other problems. For more information, talk to your pharmacist. Before using this medicine, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: kidney disease, a certain viral infection (infectious mononucleosis). Amoxicillin suspension may contain sugar. Caution if you have diabetes or any other condition requiring you to limit/avoid sugar in your diet. Ask your doctor or pharmacist about using this product safely. Amoxicillin may cause failure of live bacterial vaccines (such as typhoid vaccine). Do not have any vaccinations while using this medicine unless your doctor tells you otherwise. Before surgery, tell your doctor or dentist about all the products you use (including prescription, non-prescription medicines, and herbal products). During pregnancy, this medicine should only be used if clearly needed. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Amoxicillin passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.
