Hydroquinone 4% Cream What Hydroquinone is used for: Hydroquinone is used to lighten the skin in areas exposed to color changes due to freckles or melasma (brown spots on the skin) or scars from acne or age spots. Do not use Hydroquinone: • If you are allergic to the active ingredients or any other components of this medication. Precautions and warnings: • Inform your doctor about all your health conditions. • Inform your doctor if you are allergic to sulfites. • It is important to use a sun protection cream during Hydroquinone treatment. It may affect the effectiveness of this medication. • Try the cream on a small area of your skin before applying it to larger areas. • Using Hydroquinone may cause gradual darkening of the skin to a bluish-black color. If this occurs, stop using it and talk to your doctor. Possible side effects: Stop using this product and seek immediate medical care if you experience rash; itching; red, ulcerated, or peeling skin; chest or throat tightness; difficulty breathing, swallowing, or speaking; unusual hoarseness; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat.
