Amoxicillin / Clavulanic acid 625 mg tablets and what is amoxicillin / clavulanic acid and its use: Amoxicillin / clavulanic acid is used in adults and children to treat the following infections: middle ear infections and sinusitis, respiratory infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections including dental infections, bone and joint infections. Do not take amoxicillin / clavulanic acid: if you are allergic to amoxicillin or clavulanic acid or penicillin or any other ingredients of this medicine; if you have previously had a severe allergic reaction to any other antibiotic. This may include skin rash or swelling of the face or throat; if you have previously had liver problems or jaundice (yellowing of the skin) when taking an antibiotic. Precautions and warnings: talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking amoxicillin / clavulanic acid if you have glandular fever, are being treated for liver or kidney problems, or do not pass water regularly. Possible side effects of amoxicillin / clavulanic acid include allergy, seizures, and colitis. Other medicines and amoxicillin / clavulanic acid: inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking allopurinol, probenecid, or blood-thinning medications (such as warfarin). How to take amoxicillin / clavulanic acid: adults and children weighing 40 kg or more: the usual dose is one tablet three times a day. Children weighing less than 40 kg: it is preferable to treat children aged 6 years or younger with the oral suspension of amoxicillin / clavulanic acid or sachets. Take with food. Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water. Storage instructions: keep this medicine out of reach and sight of children. Do not use this medicine after the expiration date (EXP) printed on the carton. The expiration date refers to the last day of that month. Do not store above 25°C. The tablets supplied in the packets should be used within 30 days of opening the packet. Keep the medicine in the original packaging to protect from moisture.
