Amoxicillin / Clavulanic acid 625 mg is what is amoxicillin / clavulanic acid and what is its use: It is used in adults and children to treat the following infections: • Middle ear infections and sinus infections • Respiratory tract infections • Urinary tract infections • Skin and soft tissue infections including dental infections • Bone and joint infections Do not take amoxicillin / clavulanic acid: • If you are allergic to amoxicillin or clavulanic acid or penicillin or any other ingredients of this medicine. • If you have previously had a severe allergic reaction to any other antibiotic. This may include skin rash or swelling of the face or throat. • If you have previously had liver problems or jaundice (yellowing of the skin) when taking an antibiotic. Precautions and warnings: Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking amoxicillin / clavulanic acid if you: • Have glandular fever • Are being treated for liver or kidney problems • Do not pass water regularly Possible side effects of amoxicillin / clavulanic acid: These include allergies, seizures, and colitis. Other medicines and amoxicillin / clavulanic acid: Tell your doctor or pharmacist • If you are taking allopurinol • If you are taking probenecid • If you are taking medicines to help stop blood clotting (such as warfarin) How to take amoxicillin / clavulanic acid: Adults and children weighing 40 kg or more The usual dose is: one tablet three times a day Children weighing less than 40 kg It is preferable to treat children aged 6 years or less using oral amoxicillin / clavulanic acid suspension or sachets. • Take with food. • Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water. How to store amoxicillin / clavulanic acid: Keep this medicine out of sight and reach of children. • Do not use this medicine after the expiration date (EXP) printed on the carton. The expiration date refers to the last day of that month. • Do not store above 25°C. • The supplied tablets in the packets should be used within 30 days of opening the packet. • Keep the medicine in the original packaging to protect from moisture. • Do not use if the tablets are broken or damaged. • Do not dispose of any medicines via sewage or household waste.
