Zovirax 5% cream 10 grams

Product description: Zovirax cream is described for treating herpes simplex virus infection of the skin including primary and recurrent genital herpes and cold sores. Do not use in the eye. Zovirax cream is a medicine used to treat cold sore (herpes labialis) and genital herpes symptoms. Acyclovir cream can be used alone or with other medicines. Zovirax cream belongs to a class of medicines called antivirals. It is not known if acyclovir cream is safe and effective for children under 12 years old. Usage instructions: Zovirax cream should be used 5 times daily for 4 days. Treatment should start as soon as possible after signs or symptoms of cold sores appear, that is during the prodrome or when lesions appear. For teenagers aged 12 and above, the dosage is the same as for adults. Use the cream for at least 5 days. If the genital herpes sore does not heal by then, you can continue using the cream for another 5 days. If the affected area does not heal after a total of 10 days, stop using the cream and inform your doctor. Warnings and precautions: Zovirax cream is not recommended for use on mucous membranes such as the mouth, eye, or vagina as it may be irritating. Special care should be taken to avoid accidental entry into the eye. In patients with severe immunodeficiency (for example: AIDS patients or bone marrow transplant recipients), acyclovir doses should be taken orally. These patients should be encouraged to consult a doctor regarding treatment of any infection. Zovirax cream contains a specially formulated base and should not be diluted or used as a base for other medications. Cetostearyl alcohol in the base may cause local skin reactions (such as contact dermatitis). This medicine contains 400 mg of propylene glycol per gram of product. Propylene glycol may cause skin irritation. Do not use this medicine on newborns with open wounds or large areas of broken or damaged skin (such as burns). This medicine contains 7.5 mg of sodium lauryl sulfate per gram of product. Sodium lauryl sulfate may cause local skin reactions (such as stinging or burning sensation) or increase skin reactions caused by other products when applied to the same area.
