Overdose of paracetamol: Immediate medical care is needed in case of overdose to avoid the risk of liver failure, even if no symptoms of overdose appear. An overdose of more than 10 grams of paracetamol can cause liver failure. Early symptoms may include pallor, nausea, vomiting, dysphoria, and general discomfort. Clinical and laboratory evidence of liver damage may not be apparent until 48 to 72 hours after overdose. The overdose should be treated immediately by gastric lavage and then administering acetylcysteine or methionine intravenously without waiting for plasma paracetamol levels. Supportive measures should also be available. The importance of additional treatment is being studied in the presence of higher plasma paracetamol levels and the time elapsed since ingestion. Caffeine overdose: An overdose of caffeine may lead to epigastric pain, vomiting, diuresis, irregular heartbeat or arrhythmia, central nervous system stimulation, insomnia, discomfort, agitation, irritability, tremors, shivering, and seizures. It should be noted that for clinically significant symptoms of caffeine overdose associated with this product, the ingested amount will be linked to a serious case of paracetamol-related liver toxicity. There is no specific treatment for this, but supportive measures can be used. In all cases suspected of overdose, immediate medical care is crucial for adults and children, even if no signs or symptoms are observed. Daily long-term use of paracetamol with warfarin and other coumarins used as blood thinners may increase the risk of bleeding; consult your doctor before taking these medicines together. Incidental doses of paracetamol have little effect. Alcohol use can increase the hepatotoxic effects of Panadol Extra.
