Product description: Please note that the doctor has prescribed the medication for different uses and/or at a different dose than stated in the leaflet of the package. Always follow the doctor's prescriptions. The active ingredient is valsartan at different concentrations: valsartan belongs to a group of medicines called angiotensin II receptor blockers, which are used to treat high blood pressure. Angiotensin 2 is a substance in the body that causes blood vessels to constrict, leading to increased blood pressure. Valsartan works by preventing the effects of angiotensin 2. The result is that blood vessels relax and blood pressure decreases. Valsartan 40 mg film-coated tablets can be used against three different disorders: treatment of high blood pressure in children and adolescents aged 6 to under 18 years. High blood pressure increases the workload on the heart and arteries. If left untreated, it can damage blood vessels in the brain, heart, and kidneys, and may lead to stroke, heart failure, or kidney failure. High blood pressure increases the risk of a heart attack. When blood pressure drops to normal levels, the risk of these disorders decreases. Treatment of adult patients who recently had a heart attack (myocardial infarction). The term "recent" here refers to between 12 hours and 10 days ago. Treatment of incidental heart failure in adult patients. Valsartan is used when the group of drugs called angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (used to treat heart failure) cannot be used, or can be used in addition to ACE inhibitors when other drugs for heart failure cannot be used. Symptoms of heart failure include: shortness of breath and swelling in the feet and legs due to fluid accumulation. It results from the heart muscle's inability to pump enough blood to meet the body's needs. Adults after recent myocardial infarction: treatment usually begins early after 12 hours, typically with a low dose of 20 mg twice daily. A 20 mg dose can be obtained by dividing a 40 mg tablet.
