Product description
LIGHTNING lightness at ELITE level — for the player who wins the first step
The WAVE LIGHTNING line is Mizuno's light, fast volleyball family, and ELITE is its top tier: a lightweight build (about 295 g at size 27.0 cm) around high-rebound MIZUNO ENERZY nxt foam and the WAVE plate that grips the midfoot the instant you brake and change direction. It is made for the player whose game runs on foot speed, repeated short steps and wide defensive coverage — not on heavy, continuous jumping.
The technology
- MIZUNO ENERZY nxt in the midsole, with a MIZUNO ENERZY xp sockliner — the latter is what Mizuno calls its highest-rebound insole material ever, and it is removable. Together they return part of the energy of every landing instead of swallowing it, so you feel a push on the first step and your legs stay fresher in the closing sets where matches are decided.
- WAVE plate — a wave-shaped sheet through the midfoot that stops the middle of the foot twisting when you stop dead or pivot. That is the difference between a foot that settles and fires straight back the other way, and a foot that "swims" inside the shoe and costs you a full step.
- Lightweight construction — you do not feel it in one step; you feel it across hundreds of short steps in a match: less effort in every lateral move, and a faster return to your position after each ball.
- High-grip XG Rubber+ outsole — tuned for wooden indoor courts: it bites the floor the moment you brake so you stop exactly where you meant to, and it cuts slipping at the moment slipping is unforgivable. D FLEX GROOVE flex grooves let the foot bend naturally.
Who is it for?
It is the natural pick for anyone who spends the match moving horizontally:
- Libero and defensive specialist — covering a wide area, repeated short bursts, dropping and getting back up fast.
- Outside hitter / receiver — combining reception with a quick transition into the attack.
- Setter — reaching the second ball from any angle, needing instant stability on the stop to set balanced.
- And generally: any player who describes their style as fast and light, and prefers immediate response over deep cushioning.
